Airworthiness Department ensures that the initial and continued airworthiness of all aircrafts registered in the UAE are maintained in accordance with the UAE Civil Aviation Regulation CAR Part V. The department also ensures that the set standard of aircraft and components maintenance is provided by aircraft maintenance organizations maintaining UAE registered aircraft in and outside the UAE.

The Airworthiness department provides three main functions:

  1. Air Operations & CAMO (CAR M)

    This section is responsible for regulation, certification and safety oversight of air operators and CAMO organizations as well as ensuring the continuing airworthiness of UAE Registered aircrafts including any component for installation to those aircraft.
  2. MRO (CAR 145)

    CAR 145 section is responsible for regulation, certification and safety oversight of Maintenance Repair Organizations in the industry by conducting the activities that ensure organizations that are involved in the maintenance of UAE registered aircraft and its components, are in compliance with the applicable airworthiness regulations.
  3. Engineering (CAR 21)

    The GCAA Engineering is primarily responsible for regulation, certification and safety oversight of CAR 21 organizations through "Certification of Aircraft And Related Products, Parts and Appliances, and of Design and Production Organizations".
